Automobile

San Luis Obispo is about a four hour drive from San Francisco and five hours from Southern California (roughly).  If you fly into San Francisco and have the time, driving the scenic California Coast Highway 1 is a real treat, but plan on several additional hours.

Directions to the Embassy Suites
Traveling from either north or south you will be arriving in San Luis Obispo via Highway 101 (if you have come the coast route you will stay on Highway 1 until it meets 101 in SLO then head south).  Take the Madonna Road exit and travel towards the mountain.  Turn left (south) on Madonna Road, go to the 3rd stop light (Dalidio Dr.) and turn left again (at the Post Office).  Continue to the end of the road and turn left into the parking lot where you will see the Embassy Suites to your right.

Train

Amtrak stops in the heart of San Luis Obispo, only a short distance to down town, local hotels and motels, and the Embassy Suites. The Surfliner is very scenic and a nice way to travel.  Go to www.Amtrak.com for schedules and fares and choose SLO (not Cal Poly) as your station destination.

Bus

Silverado Stages has a lovely bus from LAX to SLO called the Coast Flyer.  It takes under 4 hours to arrive in downtown SLO.  Check their website at: http://www.silveradotours.com/flyer.html
